The STW Series Rotary Arm Stretch Wrappers provide a flexible solution for securing palletized loads while keeping the pallet stationary during the wrapping cycle. Instead of rotating the pallet, the stretch-film carriage travels around the load on a rotating arm, making the system particularly well suited for heavy, lightweight, tall or unstable pallet loads.
The STW Rotary Arm Series can be supplied in both semi-automatic and fully automatic configurations, allowing the system to be adapted from lower-volume operations to completely automated end-of-line packaging systems. The reference rotary-arm platforms support both semi-automatic operation and fully automatic conveyorized systems.
For semi-automatic applications, the operator positions the pallet within the wrapping area and initiates the cycle. Automatic load-height detection determines the required wrapping height, while programmable top and bottom wrap counts, film carriage speeds and soft arm acceleration/deceleration allow the wrapping cycle to be adjusted for different pallet loads.
For higher production requirements, the STW can be supplied as a fully automatic conveyorized rotary arm system. Pallets automatically enter the wrapping station, are positioned for wrapping and exit toward downstream equipment without operator intervention. Automatic systems can be supplied as standalone cells or integrated directly into complete pallet conveying and end-of-line systems.
High-speed configurations can process up to 80 pallet loads per hour, depending on the selected rotary arm configuration, pallet dimensions and required wrapping pattern. The reference high-speed rotary arm system operates at up to 30 RPM and 80 loads per hour, while other configurations are available for lower production requirements.
The X-STRETCH powered pre-stretch film carriage can provide a standard 250% film pre-stretch ratio, electronically controlled film tension and automatic corner compensation. This reduces film consumption while maintaining consistent containment force around the pallet. Standard and application-specific film carriage configurations can be selected according to the required performance.
Fully automatic systems can incorporate automatic film cutting, eliminating the need for the operator to manually cut the stretch film after each wrapping cycle. Conveyorized systems can also include adjustable conveyor speeds, automatic pallet positioning and pass-through operating modes for complete production-line integration.
Multiple pallet dimensions and wrapping heights can be accommodated. Reference configurations handle standard 48″ × 48″ pallets, heights up to 84″ standard or 110″ optional, and loads up to 5,000 lb standard, with larger and heavier configurations available.
The STW Rotary Arm can be integrated with pallet conveyors, palletizers, slip-sheet systems, labeling equipment, safety guarding and other end-of-line equipment to create a complete automatic pallet handling and wrapping system.
