Saturn Merging Systems are designed to automatically convert multiple lanes of packaged products into a controlled single-file product flow for downstream inspection, labeling and packaging equipment.
These systems are particularly useful after thermoformers and tray sealers, which commonly discharge multiple packages side-by-side. While this multi-lane arrangement maximizes the output of the packaging machine, downstream equipment such as checkweighers, metal detectors and labeling systems often requires products to arrive individually and in a controlled single-file stream. Multi-lane singulation and merging systems are commonly used for exactly this transition.
Saturn systems can be configured to receive 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 lanes and progressively merge the products into a single lane. The conveyor layout, number of lanes and merging sequence are engineered according to the product dimensions, package spacing, discharge pattern and required production speed.
The system first controls and separates the incoming products, preventing packages from entering the merging section simultaneously. Products are then released in a controlled sequence and guided toward the common discharge conveyor.
This controlled merging process creates the single-file product presentation and spacing required for accurate operation of downstream equipment such as:
Accurate product presentation is particularly important for dynamic weighing and inspection processes, where individual packages must pass through the equipment in a controlled manner.
Merging can be accomplished using a combination of independently controlled conveyor lanes, indexing belts, product stops, sensors and merging guides. Conveyor speeds and release timing can be synchronized to create the required product pitch at the single-file discharge.
For applications with multiple product formats, adjustable lanes and guides can be incorporated to accommodate different tray or package widths. Recipe-based controls can also be provided for applications requiring frequent product changeovers.
Systems are available in standard industrial construction or stainless steel washdown configurations. Washdown systems are particularly suited for meat, poultry, seafood, dairy and other food packaging applications where the merging conveyor is installed directly downstream of a thermoformer or tray sealer. Washdown-compatible multi-lane singulators are an established configuration for these applications.
Saturn Merging Systems can be supplied as standalone conveyor modules or as part of a complete line including the thermoformer or tray sealer discharge, merging system, checkweigher, metal detector or X-ray system, labeling equipment and downstream conveyors.
Simple and easy to use machine with a user friendly interface to cover a vast range of packaged products: cosmetic, pharmaceutical, food, beverage, industrial product. Single or multipack products are manually loaded on the working table. The ergonomic sealing arm covers the heating element which creates the perfect seal. The motorized conveyor eases the product transfer into the heat chamber for the ultimate package. The integrated heat tunnel features a top, bottom and side heated air flow, twin blowers, teflon mesh belt that are all controlled with the SATU digital keypad
